A Good Day

11 January 2017

Spent the day riding and taking pictures of landscapes and water ways. Was surprisingly warm. I got back just in time for a coffee break.

Creature Comforts

10 January 2017

It's a beach running down the roads and not having all the creature comforts. Now I can run my Cappuccino machine while charging my Mobile X-box.

Precise machernery

09 January 2017
Hammering down the road today and slowed to a stop in a turn lane. Smoke started coming up around me along with the smell of burning oil. Made it back to the house to find an oil weep. Not enough to be more than an annoyance, but still. Now to deal with that instead of riding in this warm snap.

Bert the "Oneth"... a highly crafted and very precise sleeping machine.

Comfortable food

08 January 2017

Cuban style chicken. Not hard to make once you get the spices figured out. Cheap and very comfortable on cooler days.

Fish watch out

04 January 2017
While being forced to go at a slower pace I started dabbling in making fishing lures. It's getting to be kind of fun. Seeing what kind of butt ugly design you can come up with that might actually attract a fish.

Cheap, effective on creeks and small holes of water.
( Fisheez just love em) LOL

Rio Vista park is a great place to kill a little time. Fishing, swimming, with a falls that churn the water enough folks play with kayak's

I've heard two different stories about this area. The one I tend to like is this at the little falls, is the head of the San Marcos river. It's actually kind of in the middle of town.

Yard sale finds.

02 January 2017

Yard sale... $8.00
Flask, two thermos bottles, fold up spoon & a P38. All saddle bag size.
The Flask gets me some stares as I carry water in it. So far no one has summoned up the courage to ask me what I'm drinking.

Polar Bear Plunge 2017 San Marcos, Texas

January 01, 2017

At around noon on the first day of January, about 300 people from all walks of life get together on the Texas State University campus, on the banks of the San Marcos river, to jump in and become a Polar Bear. While not quite as exciting as riding your motorcycle on the icy roads of  Northwest Arkansas, it does have something. So I guess you'd have to say that this group is a "7up" chapter. "Same thing only different."

It's that you did it, not how you did it that's important.

Mud Bugs

1-4-2017

Today a cold snap hit my little tropical paradise. Suppose to last through the rest of the week. Not really all that cold but I've become a world class Slacker in a record short time. Venturing out is not high on my priority list right now.
To make all this "forced confinement" bearable I'm going through my bike stuff and repairing or replacing things. My fishing gear is in need of upgrade so I've been making lures for myself and a couple of buddies. They fish the lakes and I fish off bridges.
These pictured work well on the creeks and other holes of water that I come across in my traveling around. I call them "Mud Bugs."

Rio Vista Park. San Marcos, Tx.

Rio Vista Park. San Marcos, Tx.
This is another of those great relaxing spots in San Marcos.  It even looks like there might be some good fishing in a couple of spots.

Great little spot.

San Marcos, Texas

This is along the San Marcos river. Every time I've been on that bridge I'm always amazed at how clear the water is and how it doesn't have that "fishy sort of creek / river smell. This place would be a great camping spot except for a couple of points. 1) It's in the middle of town. (2 It's all fenced off and is part of a restoration program to rebuild the banks that were torn up during the flooding.
The river literally runs across the campus of Texas State University and is always drawing Bikinis pretty much year round. For some travelers that'll be a hazard. But still one of those clean nice places to kill a little idle time.
