(except for snow days)
First it was the weather all up and down and so on. Snow one day and 70 degrees with shiney sun the next. Then the bike for some unknown reason started needing things. I worked through most of the needs and ended up having to do the one thing I really don't like to do with an older bike...replace with newer parts. There is just something about taking off the original and replacing it with something younger. Even if it looks close to the same and gets the job done, it still just don't seem right.
My headlight was the last issue to work out. For some reason it would just blow the low side of the old sealed beam bulbs after a few hundred miles. I couldn't figure it out and a friend suggested that I try a newer head light system. So I did. Rummaging through my parts pile I found everything I needed. It's working. Rather well as a matter of fact. It's one of those bulb within a bulb looking systems. It just bothers me for some reason to have the headlight off a 78 model on my 77.
This past weekend was great riding. Weather was up in the almost 70's and just right. I got in a few miles and blew the soot out of my system.
Today was a mild day as I started out to work. Upper 40's with the promise of light rain turning to freezing rain and sleet. I managed to make it to work and back home without having to leave the bike somewhere and beg someone to come get me. Yep! It was a good day.
This storm is forecast to be a whopper. Half inch of ice and 8 to 12 inches of snow. If I survive it I think I'll take another ride and see what else needs
replacing.
NOTE: George The painter is having a show at his studio. It's in Tombstone AZ in February. I'm seriously considering making a ride up. At least change in the weather.
After it blows over...catch ya on the road.

We normally can ride 365 here in North Texas but this last blast of global warming has kept me (and most riders) in the cage. The ice and frigid temperatures have been brutal. I wonder what Al Gore has to say.
I'm under the impression ole Al is laying low these days.
